Budgeting with fortnightly pay
Rent, mortgages and bills are often monthly, but a fortnightly pay doesn’t split evenly into months. A simple rule: monthly income = fortnightly pay × 26 ÷ 12. On $2,405 a fortnight, that’s $5,211 a month. Two months each year have three pay days, which is a good time to build savings.
Fortnightly HECS repayments
If you have a HELP debt, your employer withholds extra each fortnight once your yearly income is over $69,528. On $3,000 a fortnight that’s about $49. Tick the HELP box above to include it.
